Funny Birthday Rhymes Make a Good Gift in Tough Economy

There's nothing like a funny birthday rhyme to bring out the smiles when it's time to celebrate. And the good news is that, even during our tough economy, you can find these funny birthday poems, often for free, on the Internet, and you're at least half way there to the perfect -- and low cost -- celebration.

Find a funny birthday rhyme and make it your own. The terms of use vary from site to site. But many poets are delighted to share their work for single use -- such as a person (you) copying their poetry to give as a one-time gift. Some, but not all, poets insist that you include their name or byline along with the poem. Be sure to add your birthday person's name at the top and a special salutation at the end to personalize the funny birthday poem and make it special.

Use fancy paper. Just about every office supply store and copy shop has a selection of decorative paper that can make the funny birthday rhyme appear to be more of a gift than a simple card or poem. If you are artistically inclined, you could decorate the page yourself. Add an inexpensive picture frame and your funny birthday poem (though quite inexpensive) is on its way to becoming an heirloom.

Celebrate. Even if you are directly affected by this massive economic downturn, add something fun to your funny birthday rhyme. A simple trip to the local pizzeria and/or an inexpensive or matinee movie (or less expensive yet, a rental movie) are a few possibilities. This can cap off an evening of making your special birthday person feel important.

Don't let the economic downturn spoil all your fun! Keep your sense of humor. If there is a special birthday coming up (and they're ALL special!) find a funny birthday rhyme on the Internet, if permitted, copy it and add to the poem to make it your own. Frame it and present it out at a nice but inexpensive dinner and movie -- and you just might forget the tough economy we're in.
